Sexuality pride by InsertSillyUsername Sexuality pride by InsertSillyUsername
I just know someone is gonna be offended by this.

By this stamp I mean ANY sexuality. Even heterosexuality.
Why be proud of something you can't control?
I know it helps gays/lesbians/bisexuals come out of the closet but to me, it just is silly.
It's like being proud of your eye colour,
you didn't control it, it's not something you've achieved.
Well it is an achievement to come out of the closet and all but you don't have to scream
"GAY/LESBIAN/HETERO/BI/ACE PRIDE" freaking everywhere.

And no, I'm not homophobic, I have friends who are gay (even though that's the oldest excuse in the book)

You're probably not asexual. It actually hurts me when people say shit like "Everyone has a fetish".

This is why ace pride is 100% necessary to me.

that is disgusting and is asexual erasure, which is acephobic

just because someone doesn't believe in ace pride doesn't make them any less asexual

no one was ever discriminated against for having blue eyes. but we were discriminated against for who we love. which is why we want pride.

The reason pride parades exist is to make up for the decades upon decades of LGBT discrimination.

I say take pride in the accomplishments not the sexuality. :| Another words be proud of the fact that you don't let the hate bring you down. Be proud of the strength it took to come out of the closet, or to stand up for yourself. Be proud you let you define who YOU are.

Being attracted to somebody takes hormones.
Being able to say you are not ashamed, be open about it, and not let hate bring you down, to define who you are as a person, that takes courage.

I get this, but I think people want to show pride because they had to struggle to accept their sexuality. Unlike heterosexual people, people of any other sexuality might have been shamed and discriminated against. I don't think sane pride (meaning not a complete superiority complex) harms anyone. The reason they "scream" pride is because they want to encourage people not to feel ashamed because of their sexuality and help them feel accepted.

True because "don't be ashamed of your sexuality" is alot to say. I say they should be more proud of their accomplishments to be honest. It takes strength to not let society define you. It takes hormones to be attracted to somebody :|

But it's their accomplishments and how far they've come (or are trying to in most countries) that they're proud of. They're not proud of the fact that they're attracted to a certain gender but they're proud they can be open about it without shame.

I think that sexuality pride is good in this era because so many people refuse to acknowledge us. The reason there are no hetero pride parades is cause they don't need them...
maybe someday it won't be necessary because everyone will be accepting of everyone <3

The ONLY Bible verse used against gays is referring to RAPE!!! Don't believe me? What does Man always refer to in the Bible, when not referring to the gender of an ANIMAL, or a SINGLE person, oh right, MANKIND! Proof, One verse "...Praise be the Lord and good tidings unto MEN..." And the other part of the verse with "as a woman" is referring to your WIFE. Basically it means: "You may not have sex (nowadays rape/adultery) another person as you would with your significant other"!

agreed, I'm not straight either, I get why it happens but it just isn't equality in my book, if there's a praide day for gays and all then there should be a day for straights too then I'll see it as equality .w. sounds stupid but yeah just my 2 cents

I understand what you are getting at. But, the only reason why people are proud of their sexuality is because,a lot of hertersexual people don't respect other sexualities. Gay marriage is illegal in certain states. Some schools and, other places actually don't allow homosexual people. This is just back in time when, African Americans didn't have any rights. Just about everyone was racist against them. They weren't allowed in certain places as well. They weren't respected. Eventually one day, homosexuals will be treated equally and be able to get married anywhere they please and, all of this pride stuff will go away. But, that will only happen, if people learn to respect others.

Being a proud heterosexual is just silly, but being a proud gay/lesbian/bisexual doesn't equal to being proud of your eye colour. Gays are an oppressed minority. Parents don't kick their children out of their homes because the parents are intolerant of their child's blue eyes. Some cultures still consider being a homosexual an unforgivable sin. In some countries, homosexuality is still punishable by death. When the time comes that everyone is truly equal, perhaps it'll be silly to take pride in their sexuality, but that day hasn't come yet.

But of course, if someone goes around screaming "GAY/LESBIAN/HETERO/BI/ACE PRIDE" freaking everywhere, I'd be more concerned about their sanity or suspect they're just trolling. No considerate, normal person goes around screaming a random fact about themselves everywhere they go.

The whole pride thing seems to make all gays seem like crazy flamers. I support pride when it deals with something you can control. Unfortunately, that one part in your description about control will offend some people since they think you can control your sexuality. but whatev

If heterosexuals would have a pride, everyone would go absolutely apeshit. Because apparently they have to be bullied in order to be proud of something

I don't really know. It's mainly because the LGBT group had to fight for so long to get justice and non-straight people are bullied and kicked out of their homes a lot. Just because that doesn't happen to many straight people, heterosexual pride is automatically said to be 'homophobic' and they have nothing to be proud of because heterosexual pride is everywhere, everyday. That's a bit hypocritical, I thought the LGBT wanted equality, but not to be specially treated. Of course their spreading awareness saying that it's okay to be gay, but it's getting a little too much now.

I wouldn't call it stupid, but I understand your point. Besides that, to me it also feels like people are state they are LBGTETC are just putting themselves in little boxes. I mean it's cool to be whatever you are, but don't label yourself so obviously.

I have a friend who's lesbian and she tattooed that lesbian logo on her ankle, cause she was proud to be a lesbian. It's alright to be one but to let it show that obviously.. No.

But I also can understand people being proud of who they are.

Yeah, maybe the word 'stupid' was a little extreme, but it's too late to change that now.

It's also rather silly when people flaunt their sexuality pride everywhere and then realize that's not really their orientation.

But, isn't pride defined by being proud in general?

Taken from the Oxford English Dictionary:
1. a.
"Having a high or exalted opinion of one's own worth or importance."
1. b.
"With of (a personal quality, thing, etc., which is the reason for or source of pride)."

By the very definition, you don't need to achieve something in order to have pride. It can be a personal quality: eye color, hair color, height, weight (although this could go with achievements too). Heck someone could be proud that their name is "Bob."

Yes, but I guess it depends on how you view it.
I kind of have my own definition of pride, if that makes sense.
When I think of the word 'pride' I think of being glad of achieving something.

But I understand where you're coming from.

Ah, okay.

I also understand the sexuality pride stamps everywhere are a little over the top. I mean, good for them, and it's human nature to want to show your pride, but it's getting to be a lot everywhere.

And because I don't want to be considered homophobic for saying that: My best friend is bisexual, I'm for gay marriage, etc etc.

Oh yeah, I read your description bro, but seriously? Poor people have to deal with intolerant people on a daily basis due to the countries, religion.etc etc. Yeah, you can't go "I'm proud to have blue eyes!" because you are not oppressed by shit like that. If you go to somebody and say "I am gay", you will get a LOT of mixed reactions.

I don't understand why people get annoyed by it. Its like somebody saying their proud to be gay makes them uncomfortable or something. Jesus Christ.

Of course they're discriminated, everyone is at some point in life.
Homophobia occurs everywhere, and I never said it was entirely wrong
to be proud of being non-straight. If you flaunt about it everywhere
changes are that someone who is against gay people will attack you.

And I'm not even straight myself, a lot of people don't understand me or make fun
of me because of that. Some people treat me as an mythological creature
because people with sexuality like me are rare. I know what it's like to be non-straight.
